Water Rate Increase coming in early 2025

Rate Increase Announcement

In early 2025, likely in March, the water rates will increase. This increase is necessary in order for your water system to properly operate, maintain and manage for our needs over the next 3-5 years. In just about every aspect of our lives relative to good and services, the cost of doing business is increasing.

The Board requested the Louisiana Rural Water Association to conduct a rate study for our system. The study findings and recommendations were approved by the AWS Board and the Louisiana Legislative Auditor in late November.

The Board decided to delay the increase until early 2025 in order to give our members and customers time to prepare financially. The new monthly residential rate will be $20 up to 2000 gallons and $5 per thousand gallons over 2000. The commercial rate will be $25 up to 2000 gallons and $6.25 per thousand gallons over 2000.

Even with these increases, our rates are lower than 80 percent of the water systems in the state and we expect that to continue since every system is feeling the same financial and regulatory pains.

I hope you feel pride in your system and thank those who physically and fiscally operate and maintain it on a daily basis and the board members who manage it which has resulted in the system receiving a letter grade of "A" over the last two years from LDH.
